Rabbi Lily Solochek

Our Incredible Guest Rabbi, Rabbi Lily Solochek

Rabbi Lily (they/them) is a lifelong educator who became a rabbi to create Jewish spaces that are accessible to all. They received ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and have served as a rabbi in a variety of settings, from summer camps and Hillels, to retirement homes and synagogues. Rabbi Lily is the Director of the Wenger-Markowitz Family education initiative at Reconstructing Judaism. Rabbi Lily is passionate about the intersections of Jewish values and social justice, using Jewish ritual and learning to strengthen community commitment to change. Lily lives in Maine with their wife, Lanni, and loves to hike, garden and read science-fiction.

Rosh Hashanah Day One - Saturday September 16th, 9:30 am

We hope you’ll come celebrate the new year and hear a little Torah. We have pluralistic, egalitarian services followed by a holiday lunch.

Rosh Hashanah Day Two - Sunday September 17th, 11:30 pm

Hillel is not hosting any services, but we will have a text study at 11:30 pm with sweet treats followed by tashlich at the Turtle Pond at 2:00. If you want to be connected with a local synagogue to get day two tickets, contact Kelsey.

Havdalah/Demystifying Yom Kippur - Saturday, September 23rd, 7:00-9:00 PM

What do all of those Yom Kippur prayers mean? Why do we do them? Bring in the week with Havdalah and then delve into the whats and whys of Yom Kippur before services start the next day.

Kol Nidrei - Sun, Sep 24th 6:00 PM SHARP

The one time of year Jews really (really!) start on-time. One of the most powerful experiences of the Jewish year, we expect the house to be packed on Kol Nidrei, and hope you’ll join us.

Yom Kippur - Monday, September 25th, 9:30 am - 8:30 pm

Yom Kippur can be an incredibly moving experience. We hope you’ll join us for a full day of meaning-making. Morning and Torah services begin at 9:30 am and will include Yizkor. Around noon, we’ll begin an open-afternoon schedule that includes text study with our visiting Rabbi, puzzles, and relaxing in our many nooks. We’ll explore the story of Jonah in an afternoon Torah service around 5:45 pm, followed immediately by Ne’eilah…your chance to truly bare your soul. We’ll finish with a magical, student-lit Havdalah and, what else? Breakfast for break-fast at 7:17 pm.

9:30 am - Services

12 - 5 pm - Afternoon learning and activities, including text study, restorative yoga, and games. You can drop-in, but try to register if you’re know you’re coming.

5:45 pm - Book of Jonah & Ne’eilah, followed by a mighty shofar blast and Havdalah

7:17 pm - Breakfast for break-fast.

Family Sukkot Shabbat - Friday, Sep 29th, 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Kabbalat shabbat and festive dinner for students and families over family weekend! Come for all or just a smidge- with a special parent reception in the sukkah starting at 5:00 PM

Shmeini Atzeret Shabbat Under the Stars - Friday, Oct 6th, 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM It’s time to delight in a shabbat dinner of charcuterie under the stars!

Simchat Torah! - Saturday, October 7th, 7:00 PM- 9:30 PM Havdalah followed by a complete unspooling of the Torah + party time! Potluck of appetizers and desserts to symbolize the beginning and end of the Torah!
